The Grand, The Stupendous Broken Girl

She cried

With her words

Pain

Pouring

Uncontrollably from the corners of

Her firm mouth

Pressing

Her thin lips

Together

As they shook

GULP.

Swallowing evidence of

Pain

How raw her throat must be

Her bones

Would speak

Words she could not

Cracks all along her spine

L i k e  a  b o o k  s t r e t c h e d  t o o  w i d e

Like her arms were pulled

Till her shoulders met

In

One

Loud

Crack.

They turned her into

A circus act

Handstands on

Broken shoulders

Jumps through hoops with

Broken knees

No casts

No slings

Just faulty bone

Ladies and Gentlemen,

The Grand, The Stupendous Broken Girl
